The Journey's End

      Sorry, but I'm afraid it's tine to say adios, good-bye, and so long. The journey has brought me thus far, and every journey eventually has to come to an end. Well yeah, it's my journey's end but by going to typepad you can write your own weblog.

      Well these are the things I've learned this year: 

• How to type with voice.
• How to master the 6 traits of writing all in one year.
• What the 6 traits are.   

      Well I hate to leave my school weblog but I'm going to be on my own weblog this summer. Look forward to seeing my weblog. I will make sure you'll be able to see it. I wish that I could stay at JHH but I have to go to CMS and then RHS. I will keep my weblog alive though and keep Mrs. Meeler's tips deep inside my head.

      This road of mine will be traveled until I die, but this journey is at its end. I will remember this journey. besides, the journey of weblogs never really ends. It kinda lives with you until you pass away. I really don't wan't to leave my last day of elementary school burning so I have to take control. Well since I'm leaving I need to tell you somthing about myself. I am 11 years old, my favorite colors are blue, turqoise, red, purple, gold, and silver.

      So don't be discouraged that I won't be typing for this journey. What can I say? In the end, "Weblog Zachary" will rock till' the end!!!

Memories of JHH

         This post is about my memories of JHH. I am glad that I have came here and got my brain refreshed about school. I will miss all the ones, even though I still haven't met much people, and I have been here for 10 months!

          I will miss the teachers the most though. I want to give all the teachers a special thanks! I am glad that I came here and I want to give a special thanks to our weblog teacher: Mrs. Meeler! I will definitely miss her. I also plan to take all the information she taught us and make a weblog of my own! 

         I wish that there was slots for 6th grade at JHH. If there was, I would stay here. But sadly, not all things are possible. I will miss this school and I am so sad on leaving this wonderful school. :(  But I guess it won't be too bad. I mean my best friend Jason is coming to CMS as well as me. So I will have some company at Conyers.   

                             I will miss everybody that comments to me. Bye! :P :D :O

A Role Model to us All

   This is a post about someone who has been kind to students the whole year. She has always been there to help out when there was trouble and never even getting upset about the hard work she does. Yep, you guessed it: Jeanie Smith. She always tells everybody have a good day when they leave for dismissal. She is always kind, and I never see her without a smile on her face.

   She always opens doors for us when we go inside our cars. She acts towards students with great encouragement and acts towards us full of care when we need to go visit the nurse. She is always there when we are sad. I think Mrs. J Smith is the perfect role model.

   Thank you for all you have done. I wish you a relaxed, enjoyable retirement. Thanks again!                                                                                                                        Your Friend,

A Story made of 6

     You've read my last posts about the 6 traits haven't you? If you haven't, click these hyper links: LINK #1- LINK #2 ~ After you have read these posts, read this one. It is called, The Story of the Six traits. 

                             Starring: Zack, Jason, Derrick, Angel 

   One day, I was looking out the window thinking of a good story to write, but I couldn't get any ideas. I decided to talk to Angel about it. "Angel!" I called "Can you help me with my story?" "Uhhhhhh... Did you use Ideas and Content?" "Ifleas and Bontenck?"I said, tongue-twisted. "No silly, Ideas and Content. You know, when you have a good topic and clear paper. Do you know about Organization?" "Yes I do! The one when your paper is organized and well thought. When it has a beginning, middle and end." I replied. "Good! Well I gotta go eat my spicy taco so we'll have to speak later, got it?" he said "Gotcha!" And I went to Derrick's house for more tips.

   When I arrived at Derrick's house he was sitting down playing his PS2. I said "Derrick, can you help me with my story? I asked Angel for help earlier but I'm going to need more help." Derrick turned off his PS2 and got down to business. "Well, do you know about voice? he said. "Yeah, sort of. It's when you make your voice stand out through the words in a way." "Right, but I think you forgot the parts about it being understandable. Also you must know Word Choice. That's when your words fit along with your topic. I'm getting bored. I'm playing the PS2. See ya!" That's when I decided to go visit Jason's house.

   When I arrived at Jason's he had plenty of tips for me. "Well, well, well. Look who finally got here. I know what you came to talk to me about." "How?" I asked. "I know all... and Derrick and Angel told me. You must hear about the last two traits of writing. First, Sentence Fluency. This is when your sentences are bountiful of fresh details and good words. Instead of using a lot, use multitudes! Next up is Conventions. They may not stand out but if you don't use Conventions, your story would be horrible. Like, don't use titles that don't go with your story and be sure to use spaces, commas, semicolons, and all those others where they are needed. Darrin's calling, bye!

   I rushed home and got to my story. I was done so fast that my hands almost fell off. I showed it to my friends after I was done. The 6 traits helped my story become from a horrible one to a spectacular one.  My story was organized, had good details, and the words really stood out.

      So you see? By using the six traits, you can make a good story like above.

Tall Tales and Heroes

   Phew! May 2nd was some day! It was the day of Tall Tales and Heroes!!! I played a cowhand and my parents said I did great! I was nervous but I was more excited then I was anything. I felt like doing the whole thing over when I was done. But here's the best part; yesterday I was basically famous! 

   I was suprized to hear that people my mom didn't even know came up to her and said I did a great job! I was also suprised that people said I should do drama in 6th grade! My mom did say though that I would be the guy for plays!

   Thank you everyone for saying such nice things about me! I think I will get myself in drama when I go to the king of middle schools, CMS! So as for everybody else, smell ya later!

The 6 traits go Metaphor

      It's me again! You've read my post, The Writers Best Friend, right? If you haven't yet, click that hyperlink back there. If you have, enjoy the Six Traits of writing, compared to an office!

Ideas and Content-- The people who make up the office. Say the principal and the counselor.

Organization-- How the computers are arranged. The computers would be seperated by xp or 98 version.

Sentence Fluency-- Different sizes of paperwork. Difficult work would be a larger sentence in a script.

Conventions-- An unclaimed paycheck. It wouldn't show but it is still there.

Word Choice-- The Boss of the office. He chooses which workers are good enough for his office.

Voice-- How strong the paper expresses. Kinda how if a paper is written stongly about a certain topic.

      Well how did you like them? I think metaphors are a great way to show The Six Traits of Writing! Catch U later!!!!!

The Writer's Best Friend...

      I'm going to tell you about the Six Traits of Writing. It is a webloggers best friend I tell you. Let me give you a lesson of how to use each one.

Ideas and Content: What is your topic? Does it need improving? Try to make your paper clear and the writing alive.Do you have enough details in your paper? Did you include a good beginning, middle and end? Make sure the reader can understand what you're saying. And remember, include dialogue!!! I used to not have good Ideas and Content. Being in weblogs has helped though! I didn't make my writing alive, just ask my teachers. But I got encouraged to bump it up and now just look at me!

Organization: Think about how your topic starts. Are your details in order? Is your paper going to be easy to read? Try to make your paper in time order. Does the paper you made have a good beginning? Try to make all your details in correct sequence. I didn't organize ANYTHING when I was younger. The writing was bunched up in on big mess! When I heard about the Six Traits of Writing though, I got much better with organization.

Voice: Is you

r topic interesting to you? Read it out loud to yourself. Did you give your opinion? Say everything you wanted to. Which part did you like the most? Try to make your readers hear your voice just by reading your excellent writing! I used to be shy and I didn't use my voice much. In fact, I still am! For example, on May 2nd I have a play called Tall Tales and Heroes. I am so nervous. But I have got my lines studied and I know deep down inside there won't be a problem; I hope!!!

Word Choice: Try to make your writing flow! Use exciting words! Did you try and use vivid vocabulary? Use different or interesting words. For example, instead of using surprised use flabbergasted. If on a weblog, do you think they will leave a good comment. Don't be discouraged if they don't. The important thing is that you did your best! Word Choice hasn't been much of a problem to me. But I do sometimes find myself using overused words.

Sentence Fluency: Did you use a lot of sentences? Did you make them complete? Make your sentences correct. Make your sentence beginnings have big and different ideas. Does your story make sense? Make the story sound real. Complete what you are trying to say. With Sentence Fluency, you'll find that your writing will improve. I used to STINK at Sentence Fluency! In Mrs. Peters class I used to only write 1 sentence! But weblogging has fixed that problem.

Conventions: Make your words have spaces between them. Does your title go with the story? Make your punctuation show your sentence expressions. Do you have spelling errors? Make correct capitalization in your sentences. Let people understand your writing. Because you want to show them how good you can write! In weblogging I used to make my blogs one big paragraph. But Mrs. Meeler kept on telling me to make a beginning, middle and end and now, look!

      The Six Traits of writing have helped me out a lot. I have to say though, the one I had most trouble with was Conventions. Well good luck with your story. And don't forget the writer's best friend!

Homeschool is...

     Well, homeschooling was fun. I was homeschooled for 2 years before I went into public school again. It was fun, first of all I could sleep from 9:00 PM to 11:00 AM. I only had to go to school for 4 1\2 hours, while most schools just have 6 or 8 hours. And I would wake up in school, not having to get up so stressed and I could work in my pajamas. It was quite fun. 

      The thing though is that my mom and me didn't get along very well. I somehow believe that was my fault but I'm not getting that far in the story. I also quit homeschool because I thought I was putting my mom through major stress. But I'm looking to the bright side about it. I get to do weblogs, chorus, and eat cafeteria pizza!  

      People are also saying that homeschooling should not be allowed. I give a giant BOO to that. People should have the right to choose where they want to get their education at. But I think it is a good idea people are going to start checking homes to see if kids are getting their educational needs.

     People say it is bad for other kids to be homeschooled because they can't interact with other kids. That's kinda dumb because kids that are homeschooled can still interact with other kids.

     I kind of miss homeschool but I have no clue what awaits me in middle school next year! I might go back in homeschool but I might stay in public school. Well see you later.

Something’s Fishy

       Do you own a fish? I used to but he died. Anyway, Albert Einstein, a calico fantail is not an ordinary family goldfish. He has learned to swim through tubes and hoops, take food from his owner’s hand and put a mini soccer ball into a goal! I was amazed when I heard this. It made me want to get another goldfish right away!

      This started when Kyle Pomerleau, age 9, won two goldfish at a school fair. He soon noticed that the fish would react to his movements when he came close to the tank. Pomerleau wondered if they were smarter than he had realized. 

      Kyle and his father, Dean Pomerleau wanted to test if Albert was a smart goldfish, so they started by getting a finger soccer set and put weights on the bottom of the goal. 

      They then gave Albert treats every time he swam to the goal. Then Kyle and his dad tossed in another step-ball handling. 

Well if you want to teach a goldfish how to do tricks. Start it now!

Would you like to teach a fish tricks? Why? If you was to teach fish tricks, which tricks would you decide? Try to demonstrate the tricks you would practice with your fish.

Revision is Awesome

      We are revising our first posts we made. I hope you think they are good.                                                                                                                                    

      Hello, my name is Zachary. I am older than most of my friends, but I sure don’t look like a pre-teen. I live sort of in the woods, around more houses; I think my best friends Alex, Jason, Derrick, and DEFINITELY Richard are really cool!                                                

      I am glad I was chosen as one of the Web Writers, and I love writing. It is a new experience to be back in school. I used to go to home school, it was fun! First of all, you get to sleep all you want before you get up. I usually got up around 11:00 AM! Also, you don't have to do school for 6 hours while your home-schooled! You only have to do school for four and a half hours!                                                                                                             

      The bad news is, I argued with my mom a lot. I didn't do homeschool anymore because I didn't want to put my mom through anymore stress. I also wanted to live my last year in elementary school in public school. Nobody used to like me except the kids in my weblog class, but I have lots of friends now!

      I have two best friends that don’t call me names. They are Jason and Derrick! But thanks to weblogging, “Weblog Zachary” has ROCKED! YEAH!!!!!!
