The Idiom Blog

We are learning about idioms in weblog class. Here are some examples of what I've came up with.

1. "If we lose this baseball game I'll eat my hat!" said Derrick, as confident as could be.   
2. "Angel! Answer me! Cat got your tongue? 
3. "Cool it!" I yelled to my friends. "Stop arguing!" 
4. Angel has been eating his parents out of  house and home. He's grown 5 inches!   
5. My mom was as mad as a wet hen when I didn't clean my room. 
6. Ever since I got bad grades in school I've been in the doghouse.   
7. That pizza hit the spot! 
8. When I lost my 5 dollar bill I hit the roof.   
9. The CRCT test is in the bag!   
10. My heart was in my mouth when I didn't do my homework.

Isn't an idiom a phrase that doesn't mean the same as its separate or constitutent words?

And they're usually unique in foreign languages, a bit like proverbs are.
