I am typing about how people in Japan can live longer than some other people in different places. A kid named Schuyler made a post. He said:
The TFK team has been trying to discover how people in Okinawa, Japan live 7 years longer than an average person.
I was thinking man, what a good post. That post is good. I was amazed of how good his post was. I thought, Man that's impossible how could that happen.
He also said:
I think it is really cool they can live longer in Okinawa, Japan. Maybe I should travel there when I get older so I can live my life longer. Ushi Okushuima is 103 years old! That is really cool. I hope I will live that long.
Good Idea!
What did you think of my post? What do you think makes people in Japan live longer?
Zachary,
I was living in Malaysia for the past four years, and every time that I came home to visit my family in Minnesota, I flew home through Tokyo, Japan. Maybe one of the reason that people live so long there is that it is a very advanced, high-tech society with very high standards for their food and their health care. Or maybe it is because there is something in their genetics that helps them to live longer.
Thanks for your blog post; it made me really think.

Hi Zack,
Did you know there are scientists that are trying to figure out the answer to your question? Did you know that people in Japan eat a lot of fish which is very rich in omega oils and protein? They also eat a lot of raw fish. Do you think that could be a contributing factor to their excellent health? People in Japan also know the benefits of exercise and quieting the spirit whenever they feel stressed. They also have a great respect for their ancestors and have not forgotten many of the arts that their forefather's (and mother's :D) practiced long, long ago. They have not forgotten the simple pleasures that are all around like growing beautiful gardens where they can just sit and be quiet and enjoy the beautiful scenery.Do you think having a tranquil environment might contribute to their longevity? Sometimes I think it gets harder and harder for us to really have those peaceful moments. Why do you think that is? LYA

Hi Zack,
I really enjoyed reading this post plus reading the responses. Your mom points out many good observations. So does Ms. Susan! We could learn good lessons from other cultures, especially the one on quieting the spirit whenever stress is felt. One of the reasons I love blogging for students and educators is that it gives us a chance to really think about our learning. I love reading what students think about their learning! Comments help us add to our learning and reflect some more. I think that is one of my favorite features of blogs. Do you have a favorite feature?

I'm glad that all of you like my post. I think that maybe the people live longer in Japan because they are usually in the shade and the sun's rays can't reach them.

Hi Zack,
Your topic about longer life was very interesting. I think that people in Japan live longer because of the foods they eat. Here in the states, we're so used to grabbing a bite to eat at McDonald's that we forgot about the importance of our health. Keep up the good work.

Yes, Japanese people tend to eat far more seafood and rice than would be the case in America. Also far more vegetables, and they get prime meat from Australia. Marbled beef! You would eat like a king or queen there. Also they have smaller portions and shared meals, Zack.
Indeed they are more in the shade. I think the weather is fairly moderate there, except for the earthquakes and typhoons.
How do you think Americans can live longer, Zach? How can they learn from the Japanese? Australians are pretty high in the living count, we live almost as long as the Japanese.

i think its something to do with the omega - 3's in fish, most likely promoting intelligent mental patterns, combined with a very venerable society; their overall health concerns are lower in comparison to the western world
