Freedom Letter

          Dear Lakeidrea,         10-23-1855

                When my mom told me we were going to escape to the  underground railroad. My heart went into a shock but still wondering. What is the underground railroad? So I asked her. She said,it was a path that slaves follow to freedom.She said,the reason we were running away is beacause they were about to whip my dad. So then she told me we were going to New York. She said Harriet Tubman was going to lead us. There were houses with quilts in the front that showed us it was safe to come in. It took us a week to get there. Well thats all I have to say. Hope I see you again.
