Hi Christopher,

I really like your post on Martin Luther King!!!

I don't know any famous African Americans; my mom has told me about some though-- Maya Angelou do you know her? She is a poet! and Langsten Hughes-- he's a poet too. Do you know him? He wrote one poem about dreams--

Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.

I like that poem, do you?

Paws,

Hi Christopher,

The poem is by Langston Hughes. I'm glad you liked it!

Here's part of another by Maya Angelou-- do you like this one too? It's called Alone.

Now if you listen closely
I'll tell you what I know
Storm clouds are gathering
The wind is gonna blow
The race of man is suffering
And I can hear the moan,
'Cause nobody,
But nobody
Can make it out here alone.

Paws,
Harley
