A report says global warming and human activity are destroying the world's coral reefs.
Brightly colored have lived in ocean water for about 2 1/2 million years ago. According to the IUCN report, about 20 percent of Earth's coral reefs have already been destroyed .
Endangered underwater ecosystem
One of the biggest threats to corral reefs is called " bleaching." This causes the corral reefs to whiten, or bleach. When corral bleaching occurs, corral can die
Rescuing the Reefs
Carl Gustaf Lundin of the IUCN said climate change, or global warming, is a major contributor to the loss of reefs.
Creating marine parks will also help reduce the destruction of reefs. The protected areas would make corral reefs healthier and help them with stand bleaching.
