I keep hearing the strangest thing from many of the teachers and assistants at JHH. It is something that they are often saying to our students.
"Get your foot out of your mouth"
It brings to mind a picture a student drew a few years ago of a person with their foot stuck in their mouth. I remember being impressed by the skill of the artist, especially since I still draw stick figures! But I must admit the illustration of the idiom was very funny. So perhaps I should say: "Boys and girls, do NOT put your foot in your mouth." Literally or figuratively.
Idioms Are Fun! What other idioms can you share with us? Mrs. Davis loved using idioms with the boys and girls of JHH while teaching here. You can check out some of their work at
Before I forget, a special "Thank You" to the boys that put their foot in their mouth so I could get those great pictures.
I agree. The feet should definitely stay out of our students' mouths! Gross!

Hi,
I'm not even sure how I just found this blog..but love it. I teach PE in NJ (Lodi).. Do your students post responses at home. Most of my students do not have computers at home. I love it though..

Most kids enjoy chewing on them, but I don't. I can't even imagine on that during the day.

I don't chew on my foot. I don't like it when i get plastic stuck in my throat. I see that most of the foots have chew or bite marks in it.
