On Monday Katrina caused immense damage as it hit Louisiana with 140 miles per hour winds. It also moved into Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, and Florida. They estimated that Katrina killed 110 people but they say that it could rise to more than 200. Crews are working to find shelter for people in need. Experts say that it could cost more than $26 million dollars to recover from Katrina's damage. People who were affected from hurricane Katrina will receive money from the federal Government.
Walloping winds slammed Florida's coast on Sunday. The hurricane destroyed homes and left hundreds of thousands of people without electricity. The three storms that came before Dennis were named Arlene, Bret, and Cindy but none of them had fast enough wind to become a hurricane. There has been 11 hurricanes that had hit in just this one year.
