Today for all of the people who are beginning to write you are in luck, because I am going to talk about the SIX Traits of Writing. There is Ideas and Content, Organization, Voice, Word Choice, Sentence Fluency, and Conventions.
First I will start with Ideas and Content. Your Ideas and Content should be organized and able to read. Like one perfect example is Zachary. In almost all his posts they have Ideas and Content. Also his ideas make sense. He doesn't just make up any old sentence he thinks about every thing that he writes about.
Secondly is Organization. Organization is a real important thing in your post. Ask questions like where should this sentence go and should I say this. Another good example is Jason. In the post about the giant squid he used organization. it took time and effort to organize and think about how and where to put it.
The next and my favorite one is Voice. Voice is were you have the six traits working together to let everyone hear you. If you don't have a voice you don't have a good or excellent post. Somebody that I look up to for help for voice is fellow friend and blogger Angel. Angel really likes wrestling and his peers enjoy his writing. Angel has a good reputation about his writing.
Word Choice is a pretty good thing in your writing. if you didn't have good word choice you wouldn't make sense and nobody would read your blog if it didn't make sense. So if your lack of area in writing is word choice I would go to Diana and Graciela. They are really good friends and I think that what is makes them so good. Because when you work together with a friend it effects you in every way.
Sentence Fluency is next. Another word for it is flow. have you ever read something that didn't connect. Like every thing didn't flow.A good person to give you advice on that would be Marisela. on a post she wrote called High Tech is Hot. When i read i read it with out seeing any mistakes or errors I really loved her post.
Last but not least Conventions. Convention is when you make your every thing makes sense and goes with the story. I would have to say Jada did an excellent job on that in all her post. She had joined weblogs real late and when started to write she wrote like she was here the whole time.
I really think the six traits of writing have an effect on my writing a lot. every time I write I think of the six traits and how can they help me write and get started on my post.
WHAT MAKES YOU GET STARTED ON WHAT EVER YOU DO BEST?
Hi Derrick!
Nice to see you again.
I love the reflective way you referred to your classmates strengths in writing.
They will be inspired to get better and better.
What gets me started? A kind remark from a friend or someone who respects me. I am sure you understand that success breeds success!
