Remembers Oh Sweet Remembers

We are eight days away from a moment we won't forget. It's been so fun at JHHouse. I guess I should start off with how much a wonderful time I had here. I am going to miss the smell of the hallway and the way kids would run down them to get to class. One thing I that I really will remember is the teachers here. The teachers are describable. I mean when we see them in the hall they always have a smile. So when I walk pass them they make me smile, because I have never seen any teacher just walking in the hall with a big grin. If I were to pick the best thing here it would be everything. Everything here is for smart educated kids. I really will miss this school of heart.

WHAT IN YOUR LIFE  WILL YOU MISS BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO CHANGE!

Take1 on the Six Traits!

I am going to give you a little play on the Six Traits of writing. The story is gong to take place in a mall where a man writes a story to a store keeper to get a job.

Derrick: Hi Mr.Smith here is my paragraph on why I should be working in your store.

Mr. Smith:( Quietly reading and talking to himself.) I am afraid I can not pass you to work for me. But I will give you one chance to come back. I know this people see their names or Organization, Ideas and Content, Sentence Fluency, Word choice, Voice, and Convention. They will all give what you need to pass.

Derrick:( In relief) Oh thank you Mr. Smith, but where can I find these helpful people?

Mr. Smith:( With a  mysterious smile) There is no telling where you will find these people, but just know once you see them you will you will change.

So Derrick ran out the mall and into the parking lot. He had no idea where look. Until he saw a shadow from a distance. He walked closer and closer. Then he didn't see one shadow he sis of them. The shadows start get closer. He didn't know what to do.

Derrick:( Panicking and trembling) Hey my name is D---err--ick. Please don't hurt me I'm just looking for the Six Traits of writing.

Voice:(In a spooky voice)So your looking for the Six Traits huh. Well lets just say we are them.

Derrick: ( In his head saying Hallu) You scared  for a second. i have a problem I tried out to get a job today but I couldn't get because my writing was good. Although he is givivg me one more  chance and he to me to see you guys.

Organization: Well I guess I will start off first. Hey my name is Organization and I help make your writing by giving it a beginning, middle, and end.

Word Choice: Word Choice is my name and I help you decide what cool words you should use and how to use them. I also tell you what word to use in a writing situation.

Voice: My name is Voice. I help your writing by making it sound like yourself. You don't some one to read your writing and they think you copyed it now do you!

Sentence Fluency: Sentence Fluency is who I am. I make you writing flow like the wind on a hot day. I make it seem like when you start to read you can't stop.

Ideas and Content: Ideas and Content that's our name and where out. We are the rich and smart opinions and thoughts in your writing. With us there could probably be no voice.

Convention: Yeah my name is Convention. I fix all the grammar mistakes and misspelled words. For my nickname they call me the " FIX UPPER".

Derrick: ( Surprised) All thanks guys you really gave me some great ideas on what is true writing. I wish i could take you with me but you probably need to stay to help other mindless writers. Thank you! I will never forget you.

The next day Derrick turned in his new and improved paper to Mr. Smith. Mr. Smith was so surprised.

Mr Smith:( Thinking how could he do that) You defiantly get the job with that outstanding work.

2 years later will Derrick was working 6 people came to him for help. When Derrick saw them he was curious.

Derrick: Have we met before. Derrick looked closer and boom. I got it are you the 6 traits? Derrick was so happy to see them. What are you doing here he said.

6Traits: We just wanted to visit an old friend that's all. You were our favorite client because you were the only one to use our writing tips to help you in the future. We will never forget you.

Then they disappeared in thin air. Then to replace them there was Mr. Smith.

Derrick: So that was you the whole time why did you do that.

Mr. Smith: I did because you were a great guy and was proud to be you, but your writing didn't make it seem that way. So I gave you a chance to show me who you are in your heart.

Derrick: Oh thank you how Cain repay you. I mean no one has every done that for  me just be yourself

WHAT DO YOU THINK THE SIX TRAITS ARE YOU!

Posted by DerrickBlog at 07:32 AM | Permalink | Comments (7)

Comparing

I am going to compare the six traits to people.

1. Organization- The way we were made.Like the head, stomach, and feet. Which is the beginning, middle, a end.

2. Ideas and Content- Is like the different ways you think or opinions you have or like.

3.Voice- The people who are creatative and stand out.

4.Word choice- People who use a good vocabulary.

5.Sentence Fluency- People and their size and shape.

6. Coventions- Are the peoples organs. If your grammar is wrong you can't have a sentence. So if your organs don't work your body eon't either.

WHAT WOULD YOU COMPARE THE SIX TRAITS TO?

THE SIX TOP DAWGS OF WRITING!

Today for all of the people who are beginning to write you are in luck, because I am going to talk about the SIX Traits of Writing. There is Ideas and Content, Organization, Voice, Word Choice, Sentence Fluency, and Conventions.

First I will start with Ideas and Content. Your Ideas and Content should be organized and able to read. Like one perfect example is Zachary. In almost all his posts they have Ideas and Content. Also his ideas make sense. He doesn't just make up any old sentence he thinks about every thing that he writes about.

Secondly is Organization. Organization is a real important thing in your post. Ask questions like where should this sentence go and should I say this. Another good example is Jason. In the post about the giant squid he used organization. it took time and effort to organize and think about how and where to put it.

The next and my favorite one is Voice. Voice is were you have the six traits working together to let everyone hear you. If you don't have a voice you don't have a good or excellent post. Somebody that I look up to for help for voice is fellow friend and blogger Angel. Angel really likes wrestling and his peers enjoy his writing. Angel has a good reputation about his writing.

Word Choice is a pretty good thing in your writing. if you didn't have good word choice you wouldn't make sense and nobody would read your blog if it didn't make sense. So if your lack of area in writing is word choice I would go to Diana and Graciela. They are really good friends and I think that what is makes them so good. Because when you work together with a friend it effects you in every way.

Sentence Fluency is next. Another word for it is flow. have you ever read something that didn't connect. Like every thing didn't flow.A good person to give you advice on that would be Marisela. on a post she wrote called High Tech is Hot. When i read i read it with out seeing any mistakes or errors I really loved her post.

Last but not least Conventions. Convention is when you make your every thing makes sense and goes with the story. I would have to say Jada did an excellent job on that in all her post. She had joined weblogs real late and when started to write she wrote like she was here the whole time.

I really think the six traits of writing have an effect on my writing a lot. every time I write I think of the six traits and how can they help me write and get started on my post.

WHAT MAKES YOU GET STARTED ON WHAT EVER YOU DO BEST?

THE INTERVIEW!

I interviewed my old 4th grade teacher, Ms. Mcintosh. She was a very great teacher. So I wanted to hear her voice because she stood out to me. She stood out to me because she didn't just teachus about Math,Reading and ect. She taught us about life and the world.

Derrick: What is a star student to you?

Mcintosh: Star students always try their best and are really honest.

Derrick: What motivated you to teach?

Mcintosh: I like to help other people and show them new things, and I think that is what god planned to do.

Derrick: Why do you want to teach?

Mcintosh: So I can make a difference in the future and help others become what they want to be .

Derrick:Who do you look upto that motvated you to teach?

Mcintosh:My mother,my mom always inspires me.

Derrick: What is a perfct school to you?

Mcintosh: A perfect school is a school where the teachers work together to help all of the students.

Derrick: If you were principal what would you do?

Mcintosh:If I was principal I would do what she is already doing because JHHouse is a great school.

Derrick: Do you like the CRCT?

Mcintosh: I would like the CRCT better if we took it at the beginnig and the end of the year to see if students improved. Test are a great way to see what you have learned.

Derrick: If you weren't teaching what would you be doing?

Mcintosh: If I wasn't a teaching I would be a veterinarian.

Derrick: What do you like about teaching?

Mcintosh: I like it when you see the students faces when they are learning something.

Derrick: What do you like about seeing kids learn?

Mcintosh: When a student really learns new information they never forget.

I really had fun interviewing Ms. Mcintosh. It was like old memomeries in 4th grade.

OH NO PODCASTING IS HERE!

Last week  we did another podcast about Ms. Neville's bloggers. We were helping them with their writing. I had Sahil and Cameron. Their writing was so good. They will become good writing in the future. We first practiced on what we were going to say,but I was real nervous though very exicited. I was the second one to do my podcast. Mrs. Davis gives me so much advice, I just love when she comes. On Sahils post I talked about details. I told him details are the gold in your story and also to use the details that make you exicited and happy not lame boring ones.

Then I had Cameron. On Cameron's post I talked about grabbing attention. I said that he was a good writer, but he needed to work on getting the reader to be interested in what he was writing about.

WHO HAVE YOU HELPED TO IMPROVE IN SOME THING!

YOU CAN'T SEE ME

Hey all my fellow wrestling fans. As you know John Cena is the champ so I am going to talk about him.   John Cena's real name is John Felix Antony Cena, but in wrestling we call him John Cena. He is 28 and was born on April 23 1997.

The way John  Cena got in WWE is because there is a draft were they draft you in wrestling. So they drafted him and he fought against Kurt Angle which is one of the best players in WWE.  HE defeated Kurt Angle and that is when every body saw his talent. After that John had fought Carlito in a street fight. He beat Carlito and left him on the floor. Then he fought against JBL at WrestleMania 20  for the WWE championship. Once again he won and got the best belt in WWE.Many have challenged him like, Bigshow, Edge, Shawn Michaels, Chris Jercho,Christian, and the Papa Eddie Guerrero and John defeated all of them. He is very famous for his talk like YOU CAN'T SEE ME and the CHAIN GANG. John is still the WWE champ and no one in WWE can beat him.

On t.v. I saw him in Iraq helping troops and going to a shelter for homeless people. I admire him because he helps people and he is creative and he is a roll model for kids. I think he is the best wrestler in WWE hisotry and that's why in Wrestle Mania 22 Triple H is going to lose and be embrassed like Lieing, Cheating, and Stealing Eddie Guerreio

"YOU CAN'T SEE ME MY TIME IS NOW NOW!"

WHO DO YOU ADMIRE AND WHY?

The Result of Derrick v.s Writing!

A while ago in September I posted my first blog. Now that I am bigger and a better blogger I see my writing back then was not so good. So I am going to rewrite or revise my first post.

As you know now my name is Derrick. I am now 11 years old. I am an A/B honor student. My favorite subjects are reading and spelling. Math is my weakest subject but I still try hard in math.

My favorite sports are football and basketball. I think Allen Iverson is the best player in the NBA, he plays for the 76ers. Troy Polamalu is the best in the NFL who plays for the Superbowl winners the Pitsburg Steelers. I use to play both sports.  In basketball we won the championship but in football we went to the playoffs. I still had fun in both sports.

I have two sisters and no brothers. They are 3 and 16. The sixteen year old doesn't live with me, she lives with her mom in Michigan. My mom is from Ohio and my dad is from Michigan. I am from Atlanta Georgia and so is my 3 year old sister.

I also like music. My favorite types of music are R&B, Rap, and Gospel. I like Al Green, Young Jeezy, Kirk Franklin, Alecia Keys, and Gladis Night. I have a lot of friends at JHHouse. Here are some of them: Angel E, Micheal Roz, Lisa Roz, Brinesha, and others.

Now enough about me, tell me about you.

Eddie's bedtime story Better than the other ones!

Mrs. Meeler showed us a cool website were you put in words and the computer will make a story. Here is mine.

Batistia had everything a the riches man could ask for. He had obesite food, a big, discombobulated bed, and the Bomb family to look after him.

One morning Batistia woke up. “I'm hungry!” he said. He went down to the bathroom but everyone in the Bomb family was still asleep. “I guess I'll have to find my own breakfast,” he said.

Batistia went outside and Batistia bombed Eddie Guerro down the street. On the sidewalk, he saw a lovely Atlantla . “Gulp!” Down went the Atlantla . “Not bad!” said Batistia .

Next, Batistia headed for the park. There he found a pair of McDonalds just sitting on a bench. “Gulp! Gulp.” Down went the McDonalds . “Mmmm, ugly!” said Batistia .

Batistia was feeling very cute as he skipped over to a video store. There he saw some tasty video games. “Gulp! Gulp! Gulp!” Batistia swallowed Grand Thef Auto and Wrestle Mania 22 whole.

“Wooooooooo!! It must be time to go home,” said Batistia . He ran like a girl back back home and up the stairs to his discombobulated bed.

“Breakfast! Time for breakfast, Batistia !” called Mrs. Bomb.

“I don't feel very well,” groaned Batistia . “It must have been those burito I ate for supper last night.” Burp!
