March Madness

March is here and spring in near.  Flowers are blooming and the pollen soon will be looming.  The CRCT is coming up soon. I know everyone will not be stressed and do their very best. 

It's not hard to make up rhymes, although  it takes a little time.  Spring is the perfect season to make up poems.  Especially since Mother's Day is coming up.  It would be great for you to post your poems on my blog.

I can't believe we are half way through the school year. My students have learned so much this year and are eager to learn more. 

Where Did The Time Go?

WOW!  So much has happened over the past month it has been hard for me to keep up.  I get tired just thinking about it.  Well, I never got around to doing my final draft but, I do have an update on my last Blog.  All is well in Louisiana for my husbands family.  Everyone is back at home and working.  They were more fortunate than some of  the other folks living on the East Bank.

I hope everyone took a good look at the outstanding Animal Habitat Diorama's the 3rd grade had in the hall.  The students worked very hard and did an excellent job. We have finished studying about animals and we are moving on to rocks. Today everyone made a pet rock. 

Speaking of rocks.....Have you ever wondered how Rockdale County got it's name?  How about  how Conyers was named?  I know that answers, do you?

If you were in my class last year you should know.  See what you can find out and let me know.   Maybe I can find a prize for the person who finds out first.

Louisiana Rush

This week we are learning about Personal Narratives in writing.  A Personal Narrative is an event that really happened in a writer's life. This is my Personal Narrative of my trip to Louisiana last week. (Rough draft)

On Tuesday August 23rd I got a phone call that my husband’s grandmother was terminally ill in the hospital in Louisianaand she probably would not make it through the day.  My husband and I decided that we should leave right away.  However, before we left we had several things that had to be taken care of.  First and foremost I had to make sure my classroom was ready for the week. At the same time my husband had to make sure everything was set at his work. The second task was to hurriedly pack enough for four people for a 5 to 6 days stay in Louisiana. Lastly we gassed up the van and took off.

We arrived in Louisiana after 6 long hours of “Are we there yet?”  Unfortunately we were too late.  My husband’s grandmother passed away thirty minutes before we got there.  Of course we were all very sad.

We had planned to stay until Sunday morning however, Hurricane Katrina had other plans for us.  ……………..

This is my rough draft. Feel free to give me hints on how to improve my writing.  Because we all know that writing is a process.

A Great New Start

Summer is gone and the new school year is here. I can't believe it is already the 4th week of school. My class is learning so many new things.  I know that we are going to have a great year . I would like to know one thing you would like to learn this year.  Anybody in any grade let me know.
